Consulting is a service profession that addresses complex strategic and
operational issues of importance to a firm at the request of the firm's senior
management. Oftentimes, it is under severe time constraints and difficult working
conditions. Addressing these issues successfully requires the harmonious
deployment of a mix of proficient research capabilities as well as conceptual,
analytical, and managerial competence within a consulting team environment.
The primary obligation and duty of any member of the consulting team is to assure
the proper and successful completion of the work to which the firm has committed.
The consultant must recognize that he or she is providing a vital service, both as
an outside counselor to the client's senior management and as a member of the
consulting team.
